Additional San Diego Padres Info

The San Diego Padres were founded in 1969 and like most new teams, had rough start, posting several losing seasons before their first winning season in 1978 behind the play of future Hall of Famers Dave Winfield and Gaylord Perry.

The 1982 season brought two significant figures to San Diego: manager Dick Williams, and outfielder Tony Gwynn, who would go on to become the face of the franchise in his 20 seasons with the Padres. In 1984, Gwynn and fellow all-stars Steve Garvey and Rich (“Goose”) Gossage led the Padres to their first division title, which they followed with a National League Pennant win and their first World Series appearance. The Padres faced off against a dominant Detroit Tigers team and San Diego lost in five games.

After that World Series loss, the Padres went into a decade-long slump, when out of nowhere they rocketed to division title in 1996, and made their second World Series appearance in 1998. Unfortunately, once again, the Padres had the misfortune of facing off against a remarkably accomplished team. This time, the virtually unbeatable New York Yankees swept the Padres in five games to win the World Series.

San Diego Padres Ticket Holders would watch their team struggle for years after that last play-off berth. The Padres won 90 games in 2010, which marked the most recent high point for the franchise.

San Diego Padres Ticket Holders enjoy watching the team at Petco Park. The stadium boasts some of the best sight lines in baseball and breathtaking views of San Diego. San Diego Padres fans can get tickets to all home games at Golden Tickets.
